Dear hadl,

Just stopping by to say hello and Happy New Year!  Our New Year was fairly quiet as was our Christmas.  Basically, the nieces and nephews came to visit and we let them do sparklers out on the pool deck.  They just loved it.

The house was FULL over the holidays, but we wouldn't have it any other way.  There were so many mouths to feed we just set up a brunch buffet and let everyone eat when they were ready to get up.  It worked out well.

We also got a surprise call from some people who used to live in our ward many years ago.  In fact, the husband used to be the bishop here back in 1973.  My how time flies.  They came to visit the area to see if things had changed much.  Of course, there are changes all over the place.  If we hadn't taken time to tell them what to expect, they probably would have thought they were lost!

We also received a very nice letter from my great aunt.  She shared some genealogy information with Mother years ago.  We've taken time over the years to build upon what she gave us so we took time this year to send her a copy of the results.  She let me know that we're still missing 6 of great-great grandma's siblings.  We knew we were missing at least two, but we had no idea there were 17 children in the family.  WOW!  And we thought we grew up in a large household!

Well, take care for now!  Hope your new year is a happy and hopeful one!  Best of everything to you and yours!

Dear hadl,

So how's everything been going this week?  It looks like you've been very busy.

Conference was great!  We always get to hear such inspired talks from the brethren.  And it seemed as if we heard a few words of warning, too.

Well, our outdoor garden is now moved indoors for the winter.  It took me a couple of weeks to dump out all the old dead plants, clean everything up, re-fill with new dirt and plant some new seeds.  We have a little of everything growing now.   Our carrot tops are already about 3 to 4 inches tall.  The challenge will be in keeping everything watered.

Danny's doing well.  He's at a new site now and the job is giving him fits.  The soil is so rocky it's making things very difficult.  They only complete one geo about every two days.  Danny feels like this job will never be finished.

Take care for now.  Hope everything is o.k. and that we'll hear from you soon.  God be with you always.

Dear hadl,

So how's everything going with you?  Sorry to hear your college team got creamed last week.    Danny's teams aren't winning either.  He wasn't in a very good mood at all yesterday.

Sorry we missed stopping by to bid you a Happy Sabboth yesterday.  We've had a few things going on, I guess.  Some good, some not so good.  I guess that's life.

One good thing is that my brother came for a visit.  He's been working down in Florida for a while just trying to keep some money coming in.  Can you believe this economy?  He's fortunate he's a versatile person where work is concerned.  It allows him to literally go wherever the work is.

Dad had a little accident today.  He tripped on something in the garage and ended up requiring 12 stitches in his mouth.  I can't believe he's actually out in the kitchen talking right now.  They must have given him some very effective pain reliever.  I'm certain he'll be needing it for a few days.

Take care and hope to hear back from you soon.  We know you have a fairly unpredictable schedule, but it's always good to know you're doing o.k.  God be with you always.

Dear hadl,

It's hard to believe another week has come and gone already.  Time is passing so quickly.  The Fall will be here in about another weeks time and there's still so much to do to prepare for the upcoming Winter.  The missionaries have been a great help, though.  We think we mentioned about that last week.  They came over to split wood.  They just don't know what a huge help that was.  The tree was huge and oak.  As you can imagine, the logs were so heavy it took at least two grown men to manipulate them about.

Have you seen the new photograph that Newlight posted.  He took a picture of the moon.  It's very good and shows a lot of the fine details.  He must have some very good camera equipment.  We like taking pictures, too, but we don't have anything capable of getting pictures like that.

We got a telescope a few years back that been interesting to use.  What never ceases to amaze us is how fast everything is moving around up there!  We were out observing Venus on day (the Morning Star).  It was everything we could do just to keep it in our sites.

I have a rare chance to visit with a friend of mine today.  Since she lives on the other end of the country, we haven't seen each other for the last 11 years.  Her mother wanted to attend a 50-year school reunion so she decided to accompany her.  It was surprising to recieve a phone call from her saying that she was nearby.  Today we plan to meet at the temple.  Perhaps I can persuade my husband to go with me.  We'll see.

Take care and hope to hear from you soon!

Dear hadl,

We got your letter.  So good to hear all is going well.  We expected you to be busy.

We've added some pictures to our page.  They aren't in order, so you'll have to be patient.  My husband was so proud of those fish.  Being from Idaho, he'd never caught anything like that before.  He sent a copy of the same photos back to a friend of his in Pocatello.  They couldn't believe what they were seeing.

I still recall the first time we went out on the water here.  We took the canoe out and he brought his fishing pole along to see what he could catch.  I was paddling.  All of a sudden he hooked something.  It fought him a good bit, but I kept paddling to help keep tension on the line and he got it reeled in.  (Are you getting a good visual on this?  )  Technically, it was undersize, but to him it was such a prize.  I let him keep it because I didn't have the heart to make him throw it back.

Take care and have a great evening!

Dear hadl,

We just wanted you to know that my husband and I have changed our user name.  Instead of EastPatchogue, we're now PeaceRoseRest.  We decided to name our homepage after our home.

Have a great evening.  Hope all is well and that we'll hear again from you soon.
