"There may be circumstances of such a nature that the person who is subject to them cannot do as he would wish; but in the great majority of instances it is for us, if we expect to gain a celestial glory, to exercise such faith that we can control circumstances and make them subservient to our purpose. It would be folly for men to expect, in the great day of reward, that the excuse of their circumstances not being convenient for them to obey the law which the Lord says must be obeyed by all those unto whom it is revealed would cause Him to bestow the same reward and exaltation upon them that he would upon those who obeyed it."

Dear Newlight,

So how's your multicultural event coming along?  Isn't it funny how Heavenly Father always seems to select callings for us that take us right out of our comfort zones and put us in the middle of something we discover we really love.  I had a P.E. class in elementary school once where we learned a number of folk dances.  It was such a blast!

Right now I'm a Family History Consultant.  The new website the church has come out with is great, but requires a lot of "clean up" work on the part of individual members before duplicate temple work can be eliminated.  I've spent the last two weeks checking for duplicates on all my ancestors, combining individuals, entering sources (which I have loads of, but I try to select just the best ones).  It's been a lot of work and I'm hoping that other members of the church will make the effort, too.  Otherwise, the new site will be for nothing.

Take care for now.  Hope all goes well (or has gone well) with your activity.  Talk to you again soon!

Dear Newlight,

Great picture!  How did you manage it?  You must have some good photo equipment.  I love taking pictures, too, but I don't have anything capable of a shot like this one.

My husband and I bought a telescope a couple of years ago.  It's always so interesting to watch everything out in space.  And it amazes us, too, to see how fast it all travels.  We were out watching Venus one day (the Morning Star).  That planet really cruzes along out there!  It was everything we could do to keep it in our sites!

We really just stopped by to wish you a very happy Sabboth today.  We love Sunday for the peace it offers and the opportunity to bring our lives back into focus.  Today I get to go see a friend of mine I haven't seen for at least 11 years.  She lives on the other side of the country, but came here because she accompanied her mother to a 50 year class reunion.  We plan to meet at the temple.  It will be good to visit.  I'm not sure if my husband wants to go yet, but we'll see.  It's a long drive to the temple from our home, but maybe I can persuade him.  They have some new displays and I also saw a flyer about some other activities going on.

Take care for now.  Hope all is well for you.  Feel free to stop by any time!

Dear Newlight,

We're just checking in to see how everything is going.  We haven't heard from you for a while so we just wondered.   Hope all is well for you.

Things here are a bit wet.  We're getting lots of rain at the moment.  That's good because we haven't had too much this summer.  Our pond is starting to look like a mud puddle.

Got the oil changed in the car yesterday.  We always like to do that before the cool weather sets in.  I'd rather be stuck under the car when the temperatures are warm then when they're freezing cold.

Take care.  Come visit anytime.
